Nothing Compares

Design director Allison Brownmoore, founder of Past Curfew, invited me to design the title for the documentary Nothing Compares, which tells the story of the late Irish singer, songwriter, and activist Sinéad O’Connor.

The film examines Sinéad’s life and legacy, focusing on the years between 1987 and 1993. Nothing Compares had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2022, before being acquired by Showtime. It later saw a theatrical release in the UK and Ireland through Paramount International in October 2022.

After exploring several design options, the production team selected the version you see above, which has a nostalgic feeling and is inspired by Sinéad’s iconic video work. Scroll down to view the range of concepts we developed during the process.
