Lettering
Music is a powerful vector of emotion, and to me, the piano is one of the greatest instruments to convey this.
Drawing inspiration from a random sketch found in one of my sketchbook, I utilised the linocut technique to recreate the illustration to give it a bolder and more impactful presence.
To complement the raw yet deeply human essence of the artwork, I chose jazz music - the perfect style to build on the concept.
Then, I carefully designed a set of bespoke letters around the print, ensuring their versatility to resonate with the dynamic and improvisational nature of jazz. Every element tells a story.
With the poster complete, I refined and rearranged the custom letterforms to develop the logo you see below - a seamless evolution from illustration to identity.
