BISONS

In 2023, I had the great pleasure of collaborating with Swiss director Pierre Monnard on his feature film, BISONS.

In December 2022, I reached out to Pierre after discovering his impressive body of work, which includes the award-winning Platzspitzbaby (Swiss Film of the Year, 2020), as well as the acclaimed TV series Wilder, Neumatt (New Heights, available on Netflix), and Hors Saison, to name a few.

When we met, Pierre shared the story that would eventually become BISONS. I was immediately captivated by his raw yet sensitive vision for the film.

A few months later, Pierre invited me to imagine and design the title and credits for the teaser (at the time, the film was titled FÉROCE), followed by the title and credits of the full title sequence of the final film.

Throughout the project, we explored several creative directions, ranging from a "genre" approach to a more indie, film d’auteur style. In the end, we settled on a clean, spaced-out, sans serif font. Its simplicity and bareness, almost fragile, appearance reflects the vulnerability of the film's main characters and their journey.

Although BISONS features intense fight scenes, Pierre wanted the focus to remain on the human aspect of the characters' relationships—exposed and fragile, yet standing resilient in the cold, harsh realities of life. And the title, like them, stands in the cold winter.
